Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Full Time

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

3x12 hour day/night shifts with variable scheduling. Must be available for holidays and on-call shifts (2 shifts within 4 weeks).

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN develops specialized skills in caring for adults, adolescents, and geriatric populations with medical conditions, promoting understanding of self-care beyond hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Deliver care utilizing nursing knowledge and skills.
• Assess patient and family needs through active listening and observation.
• Develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Monitor and adjust care plans based on patient responses and changing needs.
• Promote, advocate and protect patient health, safety, and rights.
• Educate patients and families on self-care and healing post-discharge.
• Engage in quality improvement activities to enhance nursing practice.
• Create meaningful connections with patients and families to foster a healing environment.
• Administer medications and apply nursing interventions safely and effectively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS.
• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience required.
