Resident Engineer - Rail (Remote Site Locations)

If so, GPI wants you!Our Construction Management team is seeking a Resident Engineer for various rail and transit infrastructure projects. The Resident Engineer will manage the daily observation of the Contractor’s operations.Responsibilities:Oversee the construction management and inspection of rail projectsReview shop drawings and specifications to ensure proper installation of contract itemsPreparing inspection reports and oversight of field testing and commissioningReview change orders and issue recommendations and respond to RFI’sMaintain quantity logs and review payment requests from contractorsAttend meetings and prepare minutesReview and maintain staffing reports, payroll certifications, and other labor documentation from the contractorsReview the Contractor’s work plansEnsure the Contractor complies with the Contractors Safety and Health PlanPrepare a punch list with the owner upon completion of the projectQualifications:BS degree in engineering or a related field10+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer and managing construction field teamsExperience with Amtrak, MTA, Metro-North Railroad, NJ Transit, or Long Island Railroad construction projects and project management guidelines (PMG’s) is a plusOSHA 30-hour safety certificationCandidate must have reliable transportationA licensed professional engineer is preferredRequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final considerationPossess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job siteRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English languageBasic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team membersAble to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 poundsGPI offers excellent benefits, including a 401(k) plan, ESOP, medical/dental/vision plans, paid time off, and more.
