Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in providing exceptional care to patients within the oncology unit. This role involves working closely with patients and their families while navigating various stages of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Position Overview

The Oncology RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care, including assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and providing both emotional and educational support to patients and their families. The RN will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care throughout the patient's treatment journey.

Responsibilities

Care for patients with medical-surgical oncology needs.
Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy as needed.
Attend to patients' physical and emotional needs, especially during challenging phases of diagnosis and end-of-life care.
Collaborate with the palliative care team to integrate holistic support for oncology patients.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using computerized systems.
Participate in patient education and support initiatives.

Shift Details

Schedule: Day shifts, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30).
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required.
Ratios: Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:4-6.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing within the last three years.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Ability to perform non-invasive airway management and peripheral line care/management.
Knowledge of isolation precautions and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Familiarity with rapid response team activation procedures.

Additional Information

Nurses on this unit will have the opportunity to obtain chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration certification within one year of hire. The unit focuses on holistic patient care, emphasizing the integration of multiple support services throughout the cancer treatment process.
