Licensed Vocational Nurse

Overview Position: Licensed Vocational Nurse Department: Medical Surgical Shift’s Available: Days Employment Type: Part Time Hours: 12-hour shifts, 7:00am - 7:00pm Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas Responsibilities Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation Help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and toileting Assist with turning, positioning, and ambulating patients to prevent bedsores and promote recovery Observe patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to an RN or physician Monitor patients for changes in condition (e.g., pain levels, skin color, or behavior) Recognize early warning signs of complications and report them to an RN or physician Prepare patients for tests or procedures by ensuring they understand the process and are physically ready Teach patients and families about basic post-discharge care, such as wound care, medication schedules, and managing chronic conditions Work under the supervision of RNs and report directly to them regarding patient care issues Qualifications 1. Current and valid state license. 2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current. 3. IV certification upon hire (state specific).
