Senior Automation Systems Maintenance Technician

URBN Inc USA

Job Description

Job Description

What a night on the floor looks like

You clock in, scan the dashboards, and spot a fault rolling through the sortation line. Within minutes you're on-site, digging into PLC diagnostics, validating I/O, and tracing timing issues across conveyors, ASRS shuttles, and packaging cells. You isolate a VFD alarm, tune the servo, and confirm industrial network health across Ethernet/IP and Profinet. Before the line restarts, you capture the event in the CMMS and flag a predictive maintenance task to prevent a repeat. Later, you partner with OEM support on an integration quirk, mentor a junior tech through a schematic read, and close out the shift by reviewing reliability metrics and next-step improvements.

What you'll own
  • Advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and controls problems across automated equipment (conveyors, sortation, ASRS, and packaging systems)
  • Hands-on diagnostics with PLCs, VFDs, servo drives/motors, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet)
  • Technical ownership of key systems including complex fault handling, timing, and system-to-system integration
  • Leading root cause analyses and driving reliability and uptime improvements
  • Building and refining preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation
  • Coordinating with OEMs and third-party vendors for escalated support
  • Documenting maintenance activities, failures, and performance trends in the CMMS
  • Supporting equipment upgrades, trials, and capital projects from installation to commissioning
  • Mentoring and training Maintenance Technicians I & II
Tools and technologies you’ll command
  • PLCs and industrial controls
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)

  • Expert-level electrical controls troubleshooting
  • Deep experience with PLC diagnostics and automation platforms
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and servo systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with power transmission systems
  • Leadership, mentoring, and structured problem-solving strengths
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in automated environments
  • Demonstrated success leading complex troubleshooting and maintenance efforts
  • CMMS proficiency and disciplined documentation habits
Proficiencies we’ll rely on
