Job Summary As a Certified Surgical Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with safe and effective nursing care in an operating room, including direct patient care, scrubbing, assisting the surgeon, room turnover, collecting clinical data, and collaborating with the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities Demonstrate required practical, technical, and specialized skills for a surgical technician per the Association of Surgical Technologists. Assist in preparing the operative suite by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments. Maintain surgical asepsis while handling instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings. Help with turnover of operating room suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning equipment and surfaces. Prepare procedure rooms for the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, pulling cases accurately, and reporting needed or unavailable items to the supervisor. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (required by facility practice and state regulations; otherwise preferred). Current Surgical Tech Certification. State of Colorado Surgical Tech Registration required. One year of experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center). Valid BCLS Certification at employment (online certification not acceptable).
