Apprentice CarpenterAn Apprentice Carpenter assists the Carpenters on the job site. They must be comfortable working with tools on site, understand and carry out assignments based on directions they are given.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollow all Colt and site-specific safety procedures at all times!Follow and execute directions given by Carpenters, Foreman and Site SuperintendentAccomplish assigned tasks properly and in a timely manner.Be able to cut, spread and frame a typical wall.Cut to given measurements - straight and square.Square and sheath wallsLay joist on layout marksStand and secure walls.Sheath roofs and decksAssist in training of entry level workers.Understand and work within Colt's tool program.Produce work at or under budget.Educate entry level workers on safety protocols and direct proper form when protocols are not followed.Actively work to increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.Qualifications*Ability to perform duties/activities of workers supervised*Basic safety knowledge and performanceAppropriate knowledge of carpentry tools and skillsDemonstrate initiative on site.Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area.Possess aptitude for learning and application of newly acquired skills.Working ConditionsFull-time position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours/week - often weekend work may be required, essentially whatever it takes to get the job done. Environmental factors depend on job location but may include extremely cold, extremely hot and humid conditions in an effort to meet client expectations. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and sometimes at extreme heights.Essential Function RequirementsApprentice Carpenters should expect to do a considerable amount of lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling and balancing. Certain amounts of strength, dexterity and alternates is required.
