Custodian Location: 2907 MLK Jr., Avenue, SE, WDC 20032 (PTY G), Washington, DC, US Salary: $18.00–$19.00 per hour Division/Office: Office of Facilities Management Job Responsibilities Perform custodian and maintenance duties, including floor care (buffing and waxing), dusting, sweeping, cleaning, restocking of essential necessities in rest or break rooms, painting, snow removal, cutting grass, and other minor repairs or tasks related to maintenance of facility. Inspect assigned premises daily and determine maintenance tasks, including trash removal. Clean, dust, wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers. Replace light bulbs and refill rest and break rooms dispensers as required. Assist with setting up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. Operate and maintain floor buffers, scrubbers, extractors, high‑pressure washers, high‑speed buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and other cleaning equipment. Paint and operate lawn equipment. Maintain facility grounds, walk‑ways, and hallways free of clutter. Check for unlocked doors, report unauthorized occupants, and turn off lights in unused rooms. Follow product use instructions for chemicals and maintenance products. Respond to assigned work orders using email, intranet, Teams, and ADP. Drive assigned vehicles to/from assigned locations with valid driver’s license and insurance. Core Competencies Maintain cleanliness of facility on a daily basis, including detailed cleaning of rest and break rooms, common areas, and offices. Maintain appropriate safety protocols, including use of chemicals and safety signage. Operate appropriate cleaning equipment, including floor buffer. Daily collect, sort, and dispose of trash and recyclables properly. Maintain consistent attendance and flexibility to work schedules. Utilize ability to work within a team framework. Utilize flexible and appropriate customer service skills with UPO staff and customers. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Six months of custodian or related experience. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Availability to work standard hours 11:45 am to 8:00 pm, with flexibility for evenings and weekends. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook; ability to use intranet, Teams, and ADP. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work sensitively with diverse backgrounds. Desired Qualifications Two years of custodian experience. Computer literate and experienced in performing building maintenance tasks. Knowledge of standard building systems and protocols. Other Requirements Candidate must pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and pre‑employment drug screening. Benefits Dental/MetLife – all employees paid.
