Journeyman Mechanic

Position Summary The Journeyman II performs a variety of maintenance and engineering duties for the department. Works on projects with other trade mechanics and reports discrepancies to management. Coordinates work to ensure work orders and preventative maintenance are corrected in a timely and cost-effective manner. Demonstrates competency in at least one maintenance trade and provides general working knowledge of areas of maintenance and repair. Performs work independently to analyze and correct problems, determine manpower, material needs, and completes work by expected deadlines for jobs and/or projects. Performs other general maintenance responsibilities as needed, including rounding on equipment and inspections of buildings. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or GED required; Vocational Graduate required. License/Certification: Valid Driver's License required. Experience: Demonstrates expertise in one trade, comprehensive understanding of plant operations, building codes, state requirements, healthcare regulatory standards and Joint Commission compliance, Occupational Hazard and Safety Precautions across trades. Able to read and interpret blueprints and follow service manual. Performance Expectations: Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. Work Environment Potential exposure to extreme heat, noise, dust, dirt, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Must meet daily deadlines, sit, stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, ladders, and equipment; maintain balance for work at heights. Ability to lift 75 to 100 pounds and work in strained positions. Work hours include nights, weekends, and other necessary times to maintain facility safety. Reporting Relationship This position reports to Department Leadership.
