Role Summary

Seeking a Design & Release (D&R) Engineer to design, develop, validate, and release automotive body and exterior components such as fixed glass, wipers/washer systems, spoilers, roof rails, running boards, badging, appliques, and leaf screens.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, validation, and release of automotive exterior components.
• Create and maintain engineering designs, BOMs, and releases through AVBOM/FEDE BOM and WERS.
• Perform CAD design and support technical design reviews, sourcing, prototyping, validation, and vehicle launch.
• Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, manufacturing, and assembly requirements.
• Support DVP/eFDVS, durability/functional testing, prototype builds, and plant implementation.
• Work cross-functionally with Studio, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Program Management, STA, suppliers, and assembly plants.
• Drive improvements in quality, cost, weight, performance, manufacturability, and timing.
• Apply structured problem-solving methods such as AIMS, 8D, Six Sigma, Lean, and Failure Mode Avoidance.

 

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of automotive body/exterior Design & Release engineering experience.
• Strong CAD/CAD Design and automotive component development experience.
• Experience with Teamcenter, Vismockup, AVBOM/FEDE BOM, and WERS.
• Experience with automotive product development, validation, DVP, and engineering releases.
• Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing/assembly plants.
• Injection-molded part design experience preferred.

 

Preferred

• Client product development / Client systems experience.
• GPDS, Waterfall, Robustness Engineering, Performance+, VQR/VRT/PVT, PDL, and engineering change control experience.
• APQP, Lean Six Sigma, 8D, and sourcing experience.
• Work Arrangement: Fully onsite from Day 1. Relocation, if required, is at the candidate’s own expense.
  Experience: 3+ years (5+ preferred)

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Product, Systems Engineering, or related field
