Bonus Amount 15000 Overview We are seeking a Behavioral Health Charge Registered Nurse (Days) in our Geri Psych unit at Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, AL. The Charge Registered Nurse (RN) is an experienced RN, who in addition to providing direct patient care is accountable for facilitating a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, patient flow, staffing, resource utilization and problem solving for a specific patient care department. Use independent judgment to make effective recommendations regarding the adjustment/resolution of complaints, concerns, and problems of supervised staff regarding work assignments, hours of work, overtime scheduling and other work-related matters. Use independent judgment to recommend evaluation results of supervised employees, inclusive of promotion, rewards and recognition, performance improvement opportunities and termination. Demonstrate clinical competence utilizing the nursing process (assess, plan, intervention, evaluation). Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health. Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions. Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status. Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions. Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met. Provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission. Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans. Qualifications Current and valid state RN License Current BLS upon hire and maintain current. Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws, Practice Standards, interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavior health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral units. Receive/ maintain LPS Certification as deemed necessary. Must obtain approved training on LPS statuses and patient rights and successfully pass LPS Certification exam. Must have approved LPS certification prior to writing 5150 holds in designated Prime facilities. LPS Professionals: Must have experience in an inpatient mental health facility per County requirements. Patients Rights Education/ Competency required 30 days upon hire and maintain current. Nice to Have Previous supervisory experience, preferred. Continuum of care for behavioral health care, preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, preferred.
