The fabrication technician is responsible for interpreting customer requirements from supplied drawings or prints and fabricating material to meet specifications. Work should aim to meet safety, quality, and on time delivery metrics at all times.

Responsibilities

• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret customer prints
• Ability to use measuring equipment such as a caliper for dimension verification
• Set up and operation of various sheet metal fabrication machines including:
• manual and powered sheet metal shears
• corner rounding equipment
• hardware insertion machine
• bending and forming equipment
• drilling, tapping, and countersinking machines
• power sanding and de-burring machines
• shrink wrap and banding machines
• Performs basic cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of machinery as required
• Escalate issues pertaining to safety, quality, or on time delivery to production coordinator
• Maintains a clean work environment throughout each day
• Able and willing to learn new processes to expand competency and increase organizational flexibility

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Previous experience with sheet metal fabrication a plus
• Previous experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings a plus
• Strong mechanical aptitude a plus
• Energetic, team player possessing strong attention to detail
• Must be willing and able to follow directions
• Safety conscious behavior
• Excellent attendance record
• Able to perform work tasks both independently and in a team-based environment

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
• Position requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, color vision, and ability to adjust between close and distance vision
