We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Behavior Technician or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who is passionate about working with children and interested in growing within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. This role is ideal for individuals currently pursuingor planning to pursueBCBA certification and seeking meaningful clinical experience and supervised fieldwork opportunities.

Position Summary

The Behavior Technician / RBT is responsible for implementing individualized, family-centered behavior intervention plans for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disorders.

Working under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT provides direct, one-on-one ABA therapy in a pediatric outpatient clinic. This role supports the development of social, communication, and daily living skills while fostering independence and confidence in each child.

This position requires creativity, adaptability, strong communication skills, and a patient-centered, collaborative approach.

Primary Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the BCBA
• Provide high-quality 1:1 ABA therapy in a clinic-based setting
• Support skill acquisition across communication, social, and adaptive domains
• Promote generalization of skills across activities and environments
• Maintain a safe, engaging, and therapeutic environment for clients

Duties

Direct Therapy Implementation: Provide one-on-one ABA therapy using evidence-based techniques (e.g., Discrete Trial Training, Natural Environment Teaching) while following individualized treatment plans.

Behavior Management: Implement behavior reduction strategies in accordance with each client's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), including proactive and reactive strategies and safe physical prompting as trained.

Data Collection and Reporting: Accurately record session data and monitor client progress. Complete timely, detailed session notes and maintain documentation in accordance with clinic standards.

Collaboration: Communicate regularly with BCBAs, interdisciplinary team members (OT, PT, ST), and families to support consistency and client progress. Participate in team meetings and case reviews.

Session Preparation and Safety: Prepare therapy materials and maintain a clean, organized therapy space. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols.

Professional Development and Certification: Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and performance evaluations. Maintain active RBT certification (if applicable) and current CPR/First Aid credentials.

Requirements

• Active RBT certification in good standing with the BACB strongly preferred (training provided if not yet certified)
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred
• Enrollment in or intent to pursue a BCBA course sequence preferred
• Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and flexible in dynamic situations
• Strong attention to detail, especially with data collection and treatment fidelity
• Commitment to a family-centered, collaborative approach
• Must pass background check

Environmental / Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:

Frequently transition between standing and sitting on the floor

Engage in active play (walking, bending, kneeling) and lift up to 50 pounds

Provide physical support or guidance as needed

Respond quickly to ensure safety during behavioral or emergency situations

Environmental Conditions:

Fast-paced, child-focused clinic environment with potential for noise and sensory stimuli

Exposure to a variety of foods and potential allergens

Use of therapy materials (e.g., play dough, foam, cleaning products)

Adherence to PPE, hygiene, and infection control protocols
