Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for holiday coverage positions. Ideal candidates should be available to start by November 14 and be committed to working two major holidays and two minor holidays, which can be discussed during the interview process.

Location: Jackson, MS or Grenada, MS

Unit Information:

• Unit: Med/Surg 2N Infectious Disease
• Beds: 32
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5, adjusted for acuity
• Common Diagnoses: Current COVID unit, Med/Surg overflow

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide care for patients with various medical and surgical conditions.
• Monitor patient status and report significant changes.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care.
• Assist with the orientation of new staff as required.

Qualifications:

• Must possess ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Level 1 trauma experience required.
• Experience in high-acuity environments preferred.
• Comfortable with invasive lines and chest tubes.

Shifts and Scheduling:

Shifts are 12 hours, with options for 7a-7p or 7p-7a. Travelers are expected to fulfill staffing needs but managers will attempt to accommodate block scheduling where possible. Weekend work is required on an every other or two weekends per month basis, contingent on department needs.

Orientation:

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation on the first day, including paperwork, logins for systems, and a unit tour, followed by two additional shifts with a preceptor.

Additional Notes:

• Every unit has telemetry capability, and patients are monitored continuously.
• The charge nurse may take a light patient assignment but can support staffing needs as necessary.
• Floating between Med/Surg units is required as per skillset.
