It's more than a career, it's a calling Job Overview MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is seeking an RN Manager for the 9 North Unit. The unit is a 16‑bed medical‑surgical observation unit designed for patients requiring short stays of 24–48 hours with a focus on rapid bed turnover. The position is a regular employee, full‑time (40 h per week) with a day shift. The work location may be Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin. Job Summary Manages activities, workflow, and nursing resources of the assigned nursing unit(s). Primary Responsibilities Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within unit. Conducts hiring, training, direct management, development, and evaluation of staff. Identifies and resolves issues affecting delivery of patient care services for the unit(s). Develops and implements policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services. Monitors and adheres to budget; approves or monitors expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines. Works in a constant state of alertness and operates safely. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field. Experience Two years of registered nurse experience with demonstrated progressive leadership responsibility, or one year of registered nurse experience plus one year of leadership experience. Physical Requirements Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lb. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 in. or less) and far (20 ft. or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication; ability to hear alarms and malfunctioning machinery. Frequent keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lb. Rare climbing. Required Professional License And/Or Certifications (by State) Illinois: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Missouri: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN issued by Compact State. Oklahoma: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA); RN issued by Compact State or RN – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN). Wisconsin: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA); RN issued by Compact State or RN – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
