We are seeking a Residential Solar Field Service Technician who can help troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain residential solar and battery systems while providing an excellent experience for our existing customers.

The Position
This is primarily a service and troubleshooting position , rather than a new-construction installation role.

The technician will travel to existing customer homes throughout our service territory to investigate system performance issues, diagnose electrical and equipment problems, perform repairs, replace failed components, complete warranty work, and help ensure our customers' systems continue operating properly.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical troubleshooting skills with professionalism, communication skills, and a genuine desire to solve problems for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform residential solar photovoltaic system service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Diagnose solar production and system performance issues.
• Troubleshoot electrical, communications, monitoring, inverter, microinverter, and related equipment problems.
• Identify failed components and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Replace or repair solar equipment including inverters, microinverters, optimizers, monitoring equipment, electrical components, wiring, breakers, disconnects, and other system components.
• Support manufacturer warranty claims and equipment replacement processes.
• Troubleshoot residential battery and energy-storage systems where applicable.
• Communicate with customers regarding the issue identified, work performed, and any required follow-up.
• Document service visits thoroughly, including diagnostic findings, photographs, equipment information, and completed repairs.
• Coordinate with Exact Solar's office, operations, and technical teams when additional support or follow-up work is required.
• Review system monitoring portals remotely and in the field as part of the diagnostic process.
• Safely access residential roofs and rooftop solar arrays when required.
• Perform system inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Correct workmanship or installation issues when identified.
• Maintain an organized service vehicle and appropriate tools, materials, and replacement equipment.
• Follow Exact Solar safety procedures and applicable electrical, building, and manufacturer requirements.
• Represent Exact Solar professionally in customers' homes and throughout the community.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who enjoys figuring things out.

Residential solar service often requires more than simply replacing a component. The technician must be able to methodically troubleshoot a system, understand what the monitoring data is showing, evaluate electrical conditions in the field, and determine the actual source of a problem.

Strong candidates may come from solar installation, electrical service, solar O&M, renewable-energy service, or a related electrical troubleshooting background.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous residential solar installation, service, or maintenance experience.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Familiarity with residential electrical systems and equipment.
• Experience with solar inverters, microinverters, monitoring systems, and communications equipment.
• Experience with Enphase, SolarEdge, or similar residential solar platforms is highly desirable.
• Battery-storage experience is a plus.
• Ability to safely work on residential roofs and use ladders.
• Comfortable using digital monitoring platforms, mobile applications, and field-service software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document diagnostic work clearly.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to work independently in the field while knowing when to involve additional technical resources.

Electrical licensing or advanced electrical experience is a plus but is not necessarily required for the right candidate with strong solar troubleshooting experience.

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Based from Exact Solar's Newtown, Pennsylvania operations, with travel throughout our Pennsylvania and New Jersey service territory
Schedule: Primarily weekday/daytime field service
Compensation: Competitive and based upon relevant solar, electrical, and service experience
