Recreation Therapist – Correctional Facility (9286) – San Quentin Rehabilitation Center (SQ), San Quentin, CA, Marin County. Open position number: 095-220-9286-XXX. Job Overview Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility or Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, the Recreation Therapist develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs for patients within CDCR institutions. The RT instructs and motivates patients in individual and group recreation therapy, monitors and documents treatment progress, and works with other health‑care providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans. The RT maintains order and supervises patient conduct to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs for patients. Teach and motivate patients in individual and group recreation therapy sessions. Monitor and document treatment progress. Collaborate with other health‑care providers to share assessment information and incorporate activities into treatment plans. Maintain order and supervise patient conduct to protect safety. Qualifications Education equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work. Evidence of graduation or its equivalent and completion of required field work. Compensation & Benefits Authorized HAM rate: $9,159. Eligible for a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment. Eligible for a monthly recruitment and retention differential (totaling $5,000) during first year with CCHCS if criteria are met. Eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if current CDCR/CCHCS employee remains employed for 90 days after hiring, provided questionnaire completed. Personal Leave Program 2025 salary adjustment: full‑time employees will have base salary reduced by 3% and receive 5 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part‑time and intermittent employees subject to prorated adjustments.
