Job Title Event Staff Job Summary Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Operations or the Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations, Event Staff provides operational support for Saint Mary’s College athletic events and assists with the setup, execution, and breakdown of assigned events. Responsibilities may include ticket sales, media table support, operation of the shot clock or scoreboard, scorebook responsibilities, crowd and fan assistance, and other game-day duties as assigned. Event Staff is responsible for supporting a safe, welcoming, and organized event environment while providing assistance to students, spectators, Athletics personnel, and other event participants. Work assignments may vary based on the operational needs of each athletic event. Assist with the setup and breakdown of facilities and equipment for athletic events. Perform assigned game-day responsibilities, which may include ticket sales, media table support, operating the shot clock or scoreboard, maintaining the scorebook, and other event support functions. Provide assistance and direction to spectators and fans as needed and promote appropriate fan participation. Monitor assigned areas during athletic events and support a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment. Recognize individuals who may require medical attention and contact appropriate personnel for assistance. Observe student and spectator behavior, assist with de-escalating conflicts involving students in and around the event, and request additional assistance when necessary. Enforce applicable College policies while performing assigned event responsibilities. Other duties as assigned Education: No minimum education requirement. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in athletics communications, sports information, digital media, creative content, video production, broadcasting, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field required. Experience within collegiate athletics, professional sports, or a similarly fast-paced sports or entertainment environment preferred. Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with students, spectators, coaches, staff, and other event participants. Ability to follow instructions and established procedures and reliably perform assigned event responsibilities. Ability to maintain a professional, attentive, and safety-conscious presence during athletic events. Ability to recognize situations requiring medical, safety, or supervisory assistance and promptly contact appropriate personnel. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to conflicts, disruptive behavior, or changing event conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of an event operations team while independently carrying out assigned responsibilities. Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail. Ability to support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all members of the College community. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and other hours based on the athletic event schedule.
