Position Description Safety Director Summary Provide safety support to a variety of construction sites in a multi-state region to ensure a safe and healthful work environment. Identify safety needs, conduct training, and develop and implement policies and procedures to attain an "Incident Free" work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead by embracing Corval Groups culture and safety tools, participate and guide people in our cultural behavioral spot program
- Guide office and field leaders to be in alignment with company vision and values
- Utilize KPIs to verify project/employee performance and coach accordingly
- Ensure corporate safety plan is adhered too. Develop site specific / project plans and bridge gaps between Corval plan with the client's expectations.
- Perform field audits, and provide feedback too project and division managers
- Structure OSHA consultation meetings
- Identify behavioral and environment Risks in field/shop/yard and office
- Audit safety systems /tools to ensure effectiveness
- Communicate up and coming changes with OSHA, NFPA, MSHA, NEC, ANSI, DOT and EPA.
- Oversee 35+ inhouse developed training modules and assist in rolling out to project personnel.
- Assist Project Managers in developing project plans.
- Create Tool Box Talks based on relevant work fronts.
- Manage regional safety committee, providing technical knowledge and cultural support.
- Review annually Corval Groups policies / procedures for State and Federal compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Identify trends, patterns and causal factors through incident investigations to prevent reoccurrence.
- Attend leadership and operational meetings and provide support
- Strive to manage the EMR / TRIR below company target
- Record/report 300 forms to OSHA
- Responsible for managing Corval Groups Injury management and return to work program including medical visits, recordability of injuries, and workers comp
- Ensure timely, complete, and accurate personnel injury reporting and paperwork
- Be aware and communicate recalls regarding PPE and equipment
- Ten or more years of experience in safety planning and execution.
- OSHA 500/501 - CHST
- Train the trainer certifications in Forklift, Aerial Lift, and Scissors Lift
- Well organized with analytical abilities to determine areas for safety improvement.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and motivate team to focus on safety.
- First Aid Trainer Certified.
- Construction site environment (commercial, industrial, process plants) - Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb for safety inspection purposes while wearing safety equipment / PPE. Must be able to drive a vehicle to and from inspections.
- Office environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds frequently & 20- 50 pounds occasionally.
- Travel is required for this position and may be on remote project sites up to 50% of the time.
