Psychologist I - Evaluator Court Services - Pueblo

Job Summary This position has a residency waiver and will accept applications from residents and non‑residents of Colorado. All legal residents of the United States are eligible to apply and compete. If appointed, candidates from outside Colorado will be required to relocate to Colorado prior to their start date, at their own expense. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. The Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health (OCFMH) in charge of policy development, service provision, program monitoring, and administrative oversight for the public behavioral health system funds and supports community programs. The Court Services Department employs forensically practicing psychologists statewide in Pueblo, Denver, etc. Evaluators complete court‑ordered forensic evaluations for defendants in criminal cases as ordered by the court. Evaluations are performed in jail, community, or mental health hospitals. Evaluate competency, restoration, or sanity. Hybrid Work The position requires reporting to the office at least two times per week. Responsibilities Complete roughly 12 court‑ordered evaluations per month, including written reports on competency or sanity. Provide barriers to competency if deemed incompetent. Subpoenaed to testify and provide court testimony regarding legal questions of competency, restoration, or mental condition. Respond to evaluations in various settings (hospitals, jails, community) as specified by court orders. Request collateral information and consult with supervisor or colleagues on difficult, complex or ambiguous cases. Present professional opinion to courts via expert testimony. Attend annual and ongoing competency training and forensic services mandated training sessions. Participate in peer‑review and case presentation sessions for growth and quality assurance. Perform other duties or assignments as required by OCFMH. Education, Licensure and Certification Current, valid licensure as a Psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners. One (1) year of experience as a licensed psychologist or permitted psychologist candidate. No substitutions. Special Qualification Valid licensure as a Psychologist. Preferred Qualifications Experience in forensic evaluations. Experience in conducting and writing competency evaluations. Ability to work independently with little or no direction. Clear and effective written and oral communication skills. Conditions of Employment Required vaccinations per Colorado State regulation. Full background check including CBI name check, fingerprint check, court database, Medicare fraud database, reference checks, professional license verification, drug screen, PREA, Trails, and CAPS checks. Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license. Extensive travel may be required between offices and detention facilities. 2‑step TB screening and any required vaccinations upon hire.
