Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care Registered Nurse (RN)
• Healthcare Setting: Short-stay observation unit with an average stay of up to 48 hours
• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220-$2,340
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour day/night variable schedule, typically 7:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.-7:30 a.m.; nights may be required
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week, with orientation and low-census provisions applicable
• Weekend and Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Floating: May float to inpatient units, including intermediate-care and cardiac telemetry areas, as needed
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 3 years of relevant nursing experience, including observation, medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, or cardiac stepdown experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• NIHSS certification is highly preferred
• Successful completion of an EKG examination during compliance

Cardiac Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care for cardiac stepdown, telemetry, and observation patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre- and post-operative urology and gastrointestinal conditions
• Safely administer and monitor cardiac and other intravenous therapies, including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, insulin, and heparin drips
• Manage frequent admissions, discharges, transfers, and changes in patient acuity
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in Epic
• Float to designated inpatient units as needed while maintaining safe, effective patient care
• Collaborate with providers, ancillary staff, and the nursing team to support positive patient outcomes
• Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, independence, and a positive attitude in a frequently changing clinical environment
