Freight Forwarder, Ocean ImportMendota HeightsNearest Major Market: MinneapolisA Freight Forwarder Ocean Import is responsible for managing the importation and exportation of goods by ocean, including all aspects of the logistics process such as customs clearance, carrier booking, cargo tracking, documentation, delivery or pick up of goods, and communication with customers and third party service providers. This role involves coordinating with various parties including carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.Duties and Responsibilities:Manage the importation of goods by ocean, including customs clearance and delivery to the final destinationManage the exportation of goods by ocean, including carrier booking and managing the movement of goods through various transportation channels.Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of goodsPrepare, process, submit required documentation for customs clearance, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other relevant paperworkTrack and monitor shipments and provide regular updates to customers on the status of their shipmentsManage relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or issues that may ariseCollaborate with other internal departments, such as logistics, finance, and operations, to ensure timely and efficient service deliveryEnsure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade lawsAll other duties as assignedEducational background / Work experience:Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferredExperience in ocean import and export is highly desirableSkills & Competencies:Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and ratesOther Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environmentFunction / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes:Knowledge of ocean freight logistics and customs regulationsUnderstanding of trade laws and regulationsLanguage skills:Fluency in English is requiredKnowledge of additional languages is a plusComputer Literacy:Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with logistics software and systems is preferredAt Will Employment:DSV Air & Sea Inc. employees are hired for an undefined period of time as "at will" employees.
