Position Details Title: ASC PHYSCN – Newborn Medicine Physician Department: Pediatrics – Section of Newborn Medicine Worksite: Jacobs Medical Center, UC San Diego Health, La Jolla Appointment type: Contract Appointment percent: 30–50% Pay scale: $175,000 – $185,000 per year Union status: Uncovered Opening: 1 Work schedule: Days (includes weekends, on‑call, evenings, and holidays as required) Job Description The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Newborn Medicine, seeks a pediatric hospitalist to provide direct patient care on the Newborn Service at Jacobs Medical Center. Clinicians will supervise nurse practitioners, residents, and medical students and participate in trainee education, multidisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement projects, and division/section correspondence. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care to newborns on the Newborn Service. Supervise the care provided by nurse practitioners, residents, and medical students. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Contribute to quality improvement projects. Participate in division/section correspondence and meetings. Minimum Qualifications Board‑certified pediatrician with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in general pediatrics. Experience caring for newborns during birth hospitalization, stabilizing sick infants, and neonatal resuscitation. Current California medical license with no probation or restrictions. Ability to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges. Special Conditions Required medical staff privileges at UCSD. Availability to work various hours, including weekends (at least 2 weekends per month), holidays, evenings, and on‑call shifts as required by the 24‑hour medical center. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $— (prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).
