Safety Associate

Applicant must be able to work the following days/hours (Full Time Position) Thursday-Monday/2:30pm-11:00pm (Tue-Wed off). Clean background and pass urinalysis (Do NOT test for marijuana). Job Summary Provides a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall appearance of the service district they are assigned to. Essential Functions Serving as a deterrent : Traverse the streets to circulate through assigned zone to deter unwanted activity through uniformed visible presence. Observe and report : While on patrol be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other similar identifiers. Address unwanted activities : Ambassadors will firmly and courteously request compliance to persons violating low level quality of life crimes, such as aggressive panhandling, non‑aggressive panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc. Manual litter collection : Circulate through assigned work zone with a rolling can containing supplies and tools to complete the following tasks: Remove litter, cigarette butts and other debris on sidewalks, street gutter, and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes and other public infrastructure. Pull isolated weeds. Damp wipe and straighten horizontal surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes and other infrastructure. Hospitality and customer service : While on patrol go out of the way to actively acknowledge pedestrians with a friendly greeting or identify visitors in order to provide directions, information, city information or recommendations. Physical abilities : Must have the physical capacity to walk continuously during an eight‑hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen‑minute breaks and one thirty‑minute meal break). Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear. Must be able to see, frequently stoop, bend, squat, reach and frequently lift up to 25 pounds during an eight‑hour shift. Communication : Must have a basic understanding of the English language, including ability to speak, read, and write basic English to communicate with public, understand and implement instructions and create basic reports. #J-18808-Ljbffr
