Finance & Accounting Leader

Overview A well-established, multi-office law practice is seeking a senior Finance & Accounting Leader to take full ownership of its financial operations. You’ll modernize systems, oversee cash flow and disbursements, and deliver a 60–90 day plan to stabilize and scale financial operations. What You’ll Do Provide hands-on finance and accounting leadership across multiple entities and offices with significant settlement flow. Audit, clean up, and restructure accounting systems following prior system transitions. Oversee up-front billing / no-receivables model: track client disbursements and partner distributions accurately. Integrate and streamline systems Partner with leadership and operations to ensure transparent reporting and strong controls. Manage, assess, and restructure a ~9-person accounting team; hire and coach as needed. Present a clear 60–90 day action plan to managing partners and leadership. Required Qualifications CPA license (mandatory). 8+ years of experience in accounting and finance. 4+ years’ experience in a mid sized law firm. 3+ years of supervisory experience. Proven success in high-volume, multi-entity, multi-office accounting environments. System integration or ERP migration experience—ability to evaluate, transition, and stabilize financial platforms. Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style with strong people-management skills. Longevity and stability in previous roles. Strong communicator comfortable collaborating with partners, operations, and external CPA firms.
