Member Advocate I (Teller) - NW Expressway (North) Location

Overview The Member Advocate I delivers extraordinary service while processing cash and inquiry transactions for members in accordance with policies and procedures. They proactively suggest appropriate products and services to help members manage their financial needs and provide information about the Credit Union, its mission, and its offerings. Responsibilities Provide extraordinary member service by being knowledgeable, engaging with members, making them feel valued, and consistently applying defined service standards. Accurately process transactions (e.g., cashing checks, deposits, payments, withdrawals, information inquiries). Listen actively to understand questions/concerns, offer guidance on products and services, and identify appropriate, qualified referrals that save time and/or money. Seek ways to enhance member relationships by building trust and confidence. Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls (security, member identification, fraud prevention). Report gaps to leadership to mitigate risk and protect members. Prepare and verify official checks and money orders. Balance the cash drawer during and at the end of each workday. Perform miscellaneous duties such as end-of-day activities, filing, answering phones, and maintaining supplies. Proactively recommend products and services based on member needs. Ask open-ended questions to uncover additional opportunities to save members money and/or time. Operate within balancing and quality work parameters while maintaining a high level of member service. Conduct activities efficiently, with minimal errors, following applicable policies, procedures, and compliance controls (security, identification, fraud prevention). Control and mitigate losses, errors, and risks by following all applicable policies; manager approval required for exceptions. Work according to schedules and attendance guidelines. May provide coverage at other Member Relationship Centers as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Encouraged to earn or hold Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation. Must be able to learn and apply a variety of software applications. Must have accurate keyboarding skills. Prior experience in a retail service environment including cash handling and member service is preferred. Physical ability to perform duties: stand, use hands, reach, talk or hear; may walk and sit; may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; may lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
