Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Co-op Intern to join our Filter Automation team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and automation of design, verification, and tapeout flows for SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) and BAW (Bulk Acoustic Wave) filter technologies. You will work closely with design and process engineers to improve engineering productivity, streamline workflows, and enable efficient transfer of designs from concept through fabrication.

This position offers hands-on experience with industry-leading EDA tools, including Keysight ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, AWR, HFSS and Calibre, while developing software solutions to automate and streamline the design and fabrication process.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation solutions for acoustic filter design and tapeout flows.
• Create Python-based tools and scripts to improve workflow efficiency, data management, and design verification processes.
• Integrate and automate tasks across multiple EDA environments, including ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, HFSS, and Calibre.
• Collaborate with design engineers to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
• Develop user-friendly utilities, dashboards, and reporting tools for engineering teams.
• Participate in testing, validation, and documentation of automation solutions.
• Utilize GitHub-based development workflows, including code reviews, version control, issue tracking, and continuous improvement practices. Support the deployment and maintenance of automation frameworks used by design and tapeout teams.

Required Experience and Skills

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in Python. Experience with software development best practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Familiarity with GitHub and collaborative software development workflows.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Familiarity with RF, microwave, semiconductor, MEMS, or acoustic filter technologies. Exposure to one or more EDA tools such as ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, HFSS, or Calibre.
• Experience developing automation for engineering or design workflows.
• Knowledge of Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Understanding of IC design, layout, verification, or tapeout processes.
• Experience working with APIs, databases, or web-based applications.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization using Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or Matplotlib.
• Knowledge of Git branching strategies and modern software engineering practices. Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a passion for improving engineering productivity through automation.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
