Mobile Lube Repair Technician

The Mobile Lube Repair Technician is a split between hourly and flat rate positions responsible for performing oil changes, vehicle inspections and other routine maintenance on customer vehicles on-site at customer locations (or at the shop for more major repairs), including their home, work, or other locations. Vehicles include cars, light and medium-duty trucks and heavy-duty trucks and equipment. Utilizing service and repair knowledge, informational databases and testing equipment, the technician is expected to complete routine oil changes, maintenance as well as complete repairs on customer vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily, prior to each shift, review the schedule for the day. Stock the service van accordingly with oil, oil and air filters, and other essential fluids and items either from the warehouse or from approved vendors.
• Utilizing various testing equipment and procedures, along with informational databases, complete oil changes and routine maintenance on customer vehicles.
• Utilizing various testing equipment and procedures, along with informational databases to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems on vehicles.
• Communicate directly with customers via the phone, text and/or email regarding their vehicle needs and clarifying the repair(s) necessary, the cost and timeline for completion of the work.
• Following proper procedures, make electrical and mechanical repairs on-site or at the shop on customer vehicles in a timely and safe manner.
• If need be, work in cooperation with the customer in arranging a time for vehicle pickup and/or drop-off prior to and upon completion of repair(s).
• Using the EML App, estimate the cost of repair(s) and invoice them upon completion of repair(s) and, receive payment from customers.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the service van on a daily basis.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop on a daily basis.
• Keep tools and equipment organized on a daily basis.
• Work in cooperation with various approved parts suppliers and vendors in sourcing and securing quality parts and supplies at a fair price.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Must have a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
• Ability to work primarily alone without direct supervision.
• Work in cooperation with, and consult with, other shop and/or mobile technicians.
• Ability to work a regular 40 hour/week schedule that has bookings on the hour, every hour, and the ability to be flexible with regard to the schedule when necessary.
• Communicate, in a timely manner, any scheduling changes with the customers.
• Proficiency with shop tools, equipment and diagnostic equipment.
• Working knowledge of the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of light duty gasoline and diesel engines and related mechanical, electrical and electronic component systems, including AC Systems.
• Good communication skills when dealing with customers, vendors, supervisors and colleagues.
• Good problem solving skills required.
• Must be self-motivated.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

• Able to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of time.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel and ability to deal with each safely.
• Able to dress appropriately for and adequately prepare for and work in all weather conditions, especially in conditions sub 30 degrees and above 100 degrees.
