Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring CA RN licensure, 2+ years of telemetry experience, and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Acute care Telemetry unit (Telemetry 2 South) with 14 beds South and 8 beds East
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Cardiac-focused patient population including stable non-titrating Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin drips, plus general overflow patients
• EMR: Cerner
• 12-hour day shifts starting at 0645 with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Rotates in with core staff for holiday coverage
• First to float, floating to MedSurg and Telemetry units
• Charge RN typically does not take patients but assists with break relief
• Nurse aide support available as census dictates (1-2 typically)
• Hospitalist/Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy available 24/7
• Self-scheduling available with schedules posted 4 weeks out

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Two supervisor references required (charge accepted), one within 12 months and one within 3 years of employment
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia Basic exam within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance (pass/fail, two attempts allowed)
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for cardiac and general overflow patients within a telemetry unit setting
• Charge RN rounds with the interdisciplinary care team
• Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Facility-wide orientation is held at a separate location from the assigned hospital during the first week
• Navy scrub color required; under-shirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets (optional) must be navy
• Must be a flexible team member open to floating and schedule changes
• Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), though time off requests will be considered
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
• Must complete a pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation
• COVID vaccine medical or religious declination accepted with appropriate documentation
