We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing organization in Livonia, Michigan on a contract basis with permanent potential. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping financial records accurate, managing day-to-day accounting activity, and supporting a fast-moving business environment. Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to support timely and accurate financial processing.
• Review incoming invoices, enter transaction details into QuickBooks Online, and prepare billing documents for customers.
• Create and distribute customer invoices while maintaining accuracy in pricing, coding, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate vendor payment schedules and monitor outstanding obligations to ensure proper cash flow tracking.
• Reconcile accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in financial records and supporting reports.
• Examine employee timesheets and travel-related expenses in Excel to confirm completeness and alignment with internal records.
• Maintain organized accounting files and ensure financial data is entered consistently and accurately.
• Prepare journal entries and support general ledger activities, including work related to sales tax and corporate tax processes.
• Assist with additional bookkeeping assignments and accounting projects as business needs evolve.• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar function is preferred.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and confidence working within accounting software environments.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, formatting, and navigating multi-tab spreadsheets.
• Ability to post journal entries and support general ledger maintenance with a high level of accuracy.
• Knowledge of sales tax, corporate tax, or corporate tax return support is beneficial.
• Excellent attention to detail, data entry accuracy, organization, and time management skills.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative business setting.
