Lead Mechanic

A Lead Mechanic performs quality maintenance, preventative maintenance, diagnosis, disassembly, inspections, rebuilds, and reassembly to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated components and equipment such as engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems, power generation, electrical codes, etc. all related to mining equipment such as Jumbo drills, haul trucks, bolters, loaders, dozers, etc. This work includes mobile equipment, hoist, compressors, drills and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature. The Lead Mechanic will provide supervision, training, guidance and mentoring to other mechanics and less experienced mechanics.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions, performing preventative maintenance, testing repaired equipment, operating various equipment, performing and documenting detailed repair estimates, complying with safety regulations, performing basic welding and cutting, and providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced mechanics.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, recognized trade certificate, documented maintenance experience, knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
