Direct Support Professional

Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide quality care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. DSPs assist individuals in achieving greater independence, maintaining their health and safety, and participating in their communities while treating each person with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support based on each individual's needs and service plan.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation.
• Administer medications as trained and authorized.
• Support individuals with community outings, appointments, shopping, and recreational activities.
• Encourage independence by teaching and reinforcing life skills.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and individuals' progress.
• Observe and report changes in behavior, health, or safety concerns.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
• Follow agency policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, families, supervisors, and other members of the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous caregiving or human services experience preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
• Ability to pass a background check and other pre-employment screenings.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
• College of Direct Support Courses Completion (If Applicable)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Schedule

• Full-time and PRN positions available.
• Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
