CT Technologist

Responsible for providing minimally invasive, image-guided diagnosis and treatment of diseases using CT and other imaging modalities; utilize theoretical knowledge of medical radiation physics and biology principles to support Henry Ford Radiologists in the performance of minimally invasive radiologic procedures to aid in evaluation and treatment of patient diseases; in consultation with Radiologists, determine appropriate imaging techniques and patient positioning to obtain best images and ensure safety practices for limiting patient radiation exposure; prepare patients for radiologic procedures by obtaining and reviewing all relevant information regarding medical history and anatomical structures necessary to correctly perform procedures; answer patient questions about radiation exposure during procedures; prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions at the direction of the Radiologist; prepare radiologic equipment needed for various procedures requested by the supervising Radiologist, including physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and radiation imaging equipment; ensure technical settings for equipment are appropriate to obtain most precise images with lowest radiation; operate and control radiologic equipment to obtain diagnostic information; ensure radiation safety procedures are followed including shielding patients and using ALARA techniques; suggest alternative strategies based on knowledge of radiation physics and anatomy; resolve image exceptions and ensure high quality image delivery into Henry Ford's PACS; assist with maintenance and quality improvements; utilize knowledge of emergency response, radiologic pathology evaluation, pharmacology/imaging of contrast agents, anatomy, radiation protection guidelines, X-ray operation, image quality evaluation, peripheral IV access, and exposure safety; provide support with venipuncture/IV start procedures; assist in specification, selection, acceptance testing, commissioning, quality assurance, and optimized clinical use of radiologic imaging devices; responsible for CT quality control/assurance; and must have received certificate in Radiography or Radiologic Technology program. Location: 2799 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202 Must have completed one academic semester of coursework and/or clinical training which included emergency response, radiologic pathology evaluation, pharmacology/imaging of contrast agents and guidelines, cross-sectional anatomy, radiation protection guidelines, X-ray equipment operation, image quality evaluation, peripheral intravenous access, and radiographic exposure factors and safety; must have received certificate in Radiography or Radiologic Technology program.
