The City of Burlington is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Police Officer in the Police Department. The Police Officer carries out the Mission of the Burlington Police Department by creating a feeling of security in our community. This position works under the direction of the Chief of Police and is responsible for protecting the Constitutional Guarantees to all persons; protecting life and property, preserving public peace and order; creating partnerships throughout the community, preventing, detecting, and solving crime; facilitating the safe movement of people and vehicles, and rendering other emergency services as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate’s Degree or higher strongly preferred. Two years of experience in law enforcement function may be substituted for education. Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain one. Preference granted to applicants who have obtained Colorado P.O.S.T. certification. Benefits and Compensation The salary range for this position is $43,400 - $62,000 (DOQ) annually upon P.O.S.T. certification, plus benefits, based on qualifications. P.O.S.T. certified applicants are eligible for up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus distributed as follows: $1,000 upon hiring, $1,000 upon completion of field training program, and $1,000 on employment anniversary for first 3 years of service.
