Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician

Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking a dedicated Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician/Histotechnician. Under the direction of the section supervisor, performs both routine and specialized testing within the pathology laboratory in a timely and accurate manner. Adheres to all applicable UHS, hospital, infection control, laboratory, and departmental policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines established by the NYSDOH and CDC related to blood and body fluid safety. Prioritizes STAT testing and other time-sensitive analyses requiring immediate processing to ensure optimal patient care outcomes.Primary Department, Division, or Unit:Histology, UHS Wilson Medical CenterPrimary Work Shift:DayRegular Scheduled Weekly Hours:32Compensation Range:$27.80 - $41.69 per hour, depending on experience-Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms anatomical analyses for routine, special and automated testsPerforms and documents quality control and preventive maintenance on designated laboratory equipmentPerforms specimen fixation, embedding, microtomy, staining, and IHC analysisAdheres to laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing, analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patients test resultsPerform specimen grossing of surgically removed tissue under the supervision of the Pathologist or designeePosition QualificationsMinimum Required:Associate degree in clinical laboratory technology, Histotechnology, or equivalent program that would be eligible for licensure in NYS within a hospital laboratory settingRegistered as a Certified Histotechnician or Histotechnologist within NYS or NYS Certified Clinical Laboratory TechnicianPreferred:One (1) year of clinical Histology experience-Why You’ll Love Working at UHSAt United Health Services (UHS), we believe every connection—to patients, to purpose, to each other—makes a difference.
