Certified First Assistant - Operating Room (Temp)

PeaceHealth is seeking a Certified First Assistant - Operating Room for a Temporary, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $43.49 – $65.25. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Temporary Assignment Pay and Monthly Stipend Included! Responsible for practicing in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience. Collaborates during surgery with the surgeon and the healthcare team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. Essential Functions Accumulates the appropriate surgical armamentarium. Positions the patient on the operating room table. Preps patient for surgical procedures (shave, catheterize, drape, etc.). Provides exposure for the surgical procedure. Provides hemostasis by suction, cauterization, clamping, suturing or ligation. Administers local anesthesia as directed by the surgeon. Maintains accurate, legible and confidential records. Completes documentation pertinent to patient medical record. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Accredited Program Required: Surgical Technology and Accredited Program Required: Certified First Assistant and Required: Completion of a mentored internship with a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience demonstrating the ability to function as a CFA. Experience Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Demonstrated training and minimum of one year of experience and current competence in performing CFA tasks preferred. Credentials Required: Certified First Assistant Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) and/or Surgical Assistant Certified (SA-C) may be accepted in lieu of the Certified First Assistant (CFA) certification. Skills Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated. (Required) Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others. (Required) Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision. (Required) Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications. (Required) Understanding of operating room protocols. (Required) Working Conditions Lifting Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH). Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. Frequent Manual Dexterity and Tactile Sensitivity. Frequent push/ pull/ carry/ stoop/ bend/ reach. Occasional Kneeling. Environmental Conditions Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting. Mental/Visual Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
