Logistics Coordinator

Job ResponsibilitiesDispatch carrier trucks, schedule and route drivers, cover back-hauls, and discuss delivery services with internal customersResponsible for ensuring the most efficient freight movement and cost-effective service by working with multiple business units to centralize third party trucking movementsAbility to coordinate drivers locally and across the country with accuracy, respect, and excellent serviceResponsible to ensure compliance with DOT, Safety regulations and Responsible Care requirementsResponsible to meet on-time performance requirementsResolve transportation problems with urgency and professionalism by working with a team and independentlyMaintain proper and up-to-date files on carriersAbility to quickly learn and train internal customers and external vendors on Transportation Management SystemDevelop requests for proposals for truck shipments for various segments of the business. Analyze responses and manage the dispatch process once decision is made.Ability to quickly learn internal ERP systems. Oracle experience a plus.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field3-5 years of experience in transportation / logisticsEffective listening and strong communication skills for interaction with drivers, customers and colleaguesAbility to organize, prioritize and problem solveAble to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environmentMust be a team player, and provide leadershipExperience with a Transportation Management System preferredExcellent communication skillsStrong computer skillsKoppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers.
