Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – Full-Time
Houston, Texas
Start Date: ASAP – May 26, 2026
Full-Time | Itinerant Position | Multiple School Sites
37.5 Hours a week M-F (will accept PT)
A school district in the Houston, Texas area is seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time itinerant position serving students across multiple campuses. The TVI will work with a diverse K–12 caseload and collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to support students with visual impairments in accessing the educational environment.
Responsibilities
Provide direct and consultative vision services to students with visual impairments
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and vision-related goals
Conduct assessments and evaluations related to visual functioning and educational needs
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families
Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments to support student accessibility
Support students with compensatory skills, assistive technology, orientation support, and academic access
Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and service logs
Travel between assigned school sites within the district
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field
Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification/licensure for the State of Texas required
Previous school-based or itinerant experience preferred
Experience working with K–12 students with visual impairments
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Ability to manage a flexible schedule across multiple campuses
Position Details
Full-time schedule, Monday–Friday
Itinerant role serving multiple schools
Caseload: Various K–12 students
