Licensed Practical Nurse

Location & Pay Location: Florida Oncology and Hematology Pay Range: $20.78 - $36.53 Job Description Summary Reviews incoming phone calls related to patient conditions, concerns, and needs. Consults with providers to present patient’s problem and/or condition and resolves the problem or directs calls to appropriate person. Primary Responsibilities Answers and/or reviews phone calls from patients, caregivers, and outside entities and uses nursing assessment skills to determine the nature of each call, its urgency, how to resolve the question/problem, and to whom to direct the call. Reviews patients’ charts for possible adverse events related to treatment prior to discussing with the provider. Discusses with physician and/or nurse practitioner the steps necessary to ensure proper patient care. Discusses with provider any abnormal labs or tests presented to them by other staff members so that appropriate action regarding further orders can be carried out and charted, if necessary. Contacts the emergency room when a patient is directed there, gives explanation, diagnosis, and a phone number where the provider can be contacted. Handles prescription refill requests according to Company procedure. Will be expected to work at any Company location to help meet Company’s business needs on an as‑needed basis, within reasonable expectations. Will also be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Education: High school education required. Licensing: Unencumbered current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in state of employment or multi‑state license. Certifications: Must have CPR and BLS certifications. Experience: 1–2 years of experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters. Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), active listening, and balanced feedback. Must be able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites. Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
