Lot Attendant

General Summary: Lot Attendant is responsible for maintaining vehicle inventory and lot appearance. Additionally, the Attendant is responsible for moving and cleaning vehicles and assisting the management team as requested. These activities shall be conducted while delivering the highest level of customer service in accordance with Findlay Volkswagen’s purpose statement and standards for excellence. The lot attendant may also be responsible for various other tasks that may be associated with lot and building maintenance. This position is considered non‑exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Reports to: Fixed Operations Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains new and used vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing fuel as needed, and notifying service managers of any maintenance and/or mechanical concerns. Keeps new and used vehicle lots neat and orderly, moving cars and clearing debris in accordance with dealership display standards. Ensure dealership’s facility is neat and orderly, empties trash receptacles, clears debris, and informs management of maintenance concerns. Drives vehicles to and from service lanes, service stalls, and parking lots as needed. Completes technical ‘test’ drives as necessary. Transports vehicles to auction sites, marketing events, storage lots, dealer trade locations, et cetera. Ensures the doors of all vehicles, and buildings are locked. Ensures back entry gates are locked and secured as required. Ensures all vehicles on dealer lot have mandatory window stickers and alerts the sales management team immediately if not. Maintains condition of vehicles in the showroom. Assists with placement of showroom units as directed by the Marketing Director. Take initiative to exceed customer satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming obstacles. Ensures that each and every customer encounter is consistent with Findlay Volkswagen core values. Ensure that customer complaints or concerns are immediately turned over to members of the management team to ensure they are handled tactfully, promptly and according to dealership’s guidelines. Qualifications and Requirements: Clean driving record and ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles. The employee frequently is required to walk. The Attendant is occasionally required to sit. Attendants must be ambulatory enough in order to access vehicles and maneuver around vehicles to ensure cleanliness, etcetera. Some bending, stooping, and stretching may be necessary. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a lot attendant encounters while performing the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this role, the Attendant is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including (but not limited to) summer heat and winter cold. It will, at times, be necessary for the Attendant to access vehicles that are extremely hot due to sun exposure. The noise level both on the dealership’s lot, service workshop, and showroom will vary based on level of activity in and around these locations. Although the interior of the dealership is air conditioned, there may be times when the temperature is warmer or colder inside based on the frequency with which building doors are opened and closed. Attendants may be subject to loud noises and the presence of exhaust fumes from vehicles. Attendants will be exposed to chemicals used as part of the detail process. Attendants will frequently be in and out of customer and company vehicles. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: The lot Attendant role is a full time position. Attendants will be scheduled for one of three daily shifts. The two shifts are early, mid, and close. ‘Overtime’ may occur on high sales traffic days. Attendants will be scheduled off every Sunday in alignment with dealership’s hours and at least one additional weekday per week. The additional weekday may vary to accommodate dealership’s staffing needs. Attendants may be required to work all holidays with the exception of Thanksgiving and December 25th each year. Additional schedule flexibility may be required. The majority of the Attendants duties and expectations must be completed onsite at Findlay Volkswagen Henderson. Team Member Expectations: On time (15 minutes before shift) Maintain an accurate timecard by clocking in and out in the ADP time management system. Positive Attitude In uniform with name tag Maintain orderly and clean workspace, showroom, and sales lots. Maintain high ethical standards, work habits, and Customer Satisfaction standards. Remain on task without constant manager involvement. Maintain a ‘team’ atmosphere and work collectively to achieve team goals. Provide personal effort to maintain dealership’s culture, work ethic and values through positive personal examples. Attend and participate in team meetings as scheduled and annual all employee meetings. Maintain consistent attendance.
