Material Flow Coordinator – Automotive Manufacturing

Location: Romulus, MI
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Material Flow Coordinator to join a fast-paced automotive manufacturing facility in Romulus, MI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive production, inventory control, material handling, and coordinating the movement of parts throughout the plant.

This position is responsible for ensuring production lines have the correct materials and components available to maintain efficient operations and prevent production delays.

Job Responsibilities

Coordinate the movement of automotive parts and materials throughout the manufacturing facility.
Ensure production lines are supplied with the correct parts and materials on time.
Monitor inventory levels and identify material shortages.
Communicate with production supervisors, material handlers, forklift operators, and warehouse personnel.
Coordinate incoming and outgoing materials to support daily production schedules.
Track inventory and maintain accurate material records.
Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory adjustments.
Monitor material flow to prevent production downtime.
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of automotive components.
Work closely with shipping and receiving departments to coordinate material deliveries.
Identify and resolve material discrepancies and production supply issues.
Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Job Requirements

Previous experience in automotive manufacturing, material coordination, or inventory control.
Understanding of automotive production processes and material flow.
Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or assembly environment.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and inventory systems.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet production deadlines.
Experience working with forklift operators and material handling teams.
Reliable attendance and ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of automotive manufacturing or material flow experience.
Experience with SAP, ERP, or warehouse management systems.
Knowledge of FIFO, JIT (Just-in-Time), and inventory control procedures.
Forklift or Hi-Lo experience is a plus.
Experience supporting automotive assembly lines and production schedules.
