Compensation $110,000 – $140,000 / year, based on experience Location Woodland Hills, CA (on-site, Monday through Friday) About the Role This is a position for a true operator who loves execution. We have established core operational processes across the firm and are now ready to invest in building the people infrastructure around them. We need an experienced HR Manager to bring structure, documentation, and scalability to our people operations. This is not a ticket‑closing role. You will not spend your days reacting to one‑off requests. You will be building and running the systems that prevent those requests in the first place. Our firm consists of 90+ dedicated professionals. We are in a deliberate growth phase and need someone who thrives in the day‑to‑day operations. You will oversee compliance, refine recruitment, and establish clear accountability metrics across the team. You will have the authority to manage programs that reflect both HR best practices and our specific culture. If you are an organized professional who prefers running a tight system over sitting in high‑level strategy meetings, this role was built for you. Qualifications 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience Proven ability to introduce order and better structure into a fast‑paced environment Strong, practical knowledge of California employment law (wage and hour regulations, FEHA, and leave requirements) Execution‑focused operator who enjoys handling documentation, running day‑to‑day workflows, and keeping compliance tight Absolute ownership mindset; manages employee matters or compliance tasks thoroughly and updates leadership promptly Direct, warm communication; builds trust across all levels while maintaining professional discretion Experience guiding teams through new processes and policy updates Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is highly valued Experience managing international contractor relationships, including proper classification and cross‑border compliance, is a plus Tools We Use You do not need to know all of these on day one, but you should be comfortable picking up new tools quickly and independently. Responsibilities Talent Acquisition, Onboarding and Offboarding Manage the full recruitment lifecycle; sourcing, candidate screening, interviewing, and background checks Collaborate with hiring managers to define role requirements and competency criteria before launching any search Refine a repeatable hiring process that supports high‑quality, efficient staffing decisions Run and optimize our structured onboarding program to ensure new hires have the tools and training to contribute within their first week Own the offboarding process end to end; exit interviews, final pay compliance, COBRA notifications, access revocation, and documentation Performance Culture and Employee Relations Primary point of contact for employee concerns, providing timely and consistent guidance to managers and staff Support managers during performance conversations and ensure all related growth plans and disciplinary actions are accurately documented Maintain a transparent workplace where feedback is constructive and professional expectations are clear Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and PFL; coordinate documentation, track timelines, and liaise with payroll to ensure continuity and compliance Compliance and Infrastructure Ensure ongoing firm compliance with California employment laws (wage and hour rules, mandatory postings, and I‑9 requirements) Own the firm’s mandatory training calendar, ensuring completion is tracked and documented Select, implement, and manage the firm’s HRIS, maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring the system supports the firm’s operational needs as it grows Update and maintain the comprehensive employee handbook to keep core policies current with shifting regulation Organize and manage the firm’s HR documentation library inside SharePoint Manage relationships with international contractors; ensure proper classification and cross‑border compliance Benefits Full benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) with profit sharing Holiday pay; PTO and sick days per year #J-18808-Ljbffr
