Director of EHS
OVERVIEWWe are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director to lead and enhance EHS programs for a growing food manufacturing operation.
This leadership role is ideal for a strategic and hands-on EHS professional with deep experience in food manufacturing environments who can drive a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and oversee company-wide environmental, health, and safety programs
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Lead risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action initiatives
Drive a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, training, and accountability programs
Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
Manage workers' compensation, injury prevention, and return-to-work programs
Monitor environmental compliance, waste management, and sustainability initiatives
Establish and track key EHS metrics to support continuous improvement efforts
Prepare reports and communicate EHS performance and compliance updates to executive leadership
Lead emergency preparedness, crisis response, and business continuity planning activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing environments
5+ years of leadership experience managing EHS programs and teams
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and safety management systems
Experience developing and implementing company-wide safety initiatives
Workers Comp ownership/management
Ability to influence change and build strong partnerships across all levels of the organization
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Food/bev preferred
Multi-site EHS leadership responsibilities
Management of environmental permitting, audits, and regulatory inspections
Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or related credentials
