In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum and postpartum mothers and healthy newborns in a community-based acute care setting. You will support maternal and newborn recovery following delivery, promote family bonding and breastfeeding, and monitor for complications requiring clinical intervention. The ideal candidate brings strong maternal-newborn assessment skills, clinical competence across the perinatal continuum, and a compassionate, family-centered approach to care. Key Responsibilities Assess and monitor maternal and newborn health throughout the antepartum and postpartum periods, performing thorough physical assessments and vital sign monitoring Identify and respond promptly to changes in maternal or newborn condition, escalating care as clinically indicated Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and manage pain effectively in the postpartum period Provide comprehensive post-partum care focused on maternal recovery and newborn health following vaginal and cesarean deliveries Support family bonding, initiation and continuation of breastfeeding, and postpartum emotional well-being Educate patients and families on newborn care, postpartum recovery, feeding, and signs and symptoms requiring follow-up Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and the multidisciplinary care team to coordinate safe, individualized care Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record (EMR) Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery and/or Post-Partum nursing experience in a community-based acute care hospital Current AHA BLS, PALS, and NRP certification Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification NIHSS Certification Current MAB or CPI certification LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City) LA County Employee Health Clearance must be completed prior to assignment start date Must be fully committed to completing an 8-week assignment Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening Why NuWest?
