Senior Prevention and Response Specialist

The Senior Prevention and Response Specialist develops engaging educational programs and targeted prevention initiatives that promote a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory environment at GW. The role supports the Office of Equal Opportunity by utilizing best practices in prevention in designing and delivering programming for faculty, staff, and students. The Senior Prevention and Response Specialist reports directly to the Director of Response and Prevention and supervises a Prevention Training Associate. Responsibilities The Senior Prevention and Response Specialist responsibilities will include: Design and administer campus‑wide climate surveys aligned with emerging legal and regulatory requirements to assess campus experiences related to discrimination and harassment including sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. Analyze survey findings to identify barriers to reporting, accessibility of services. Use data insights to inform the development of targeted prevention initiatives and training strategies. Contribute to strategic prevention planning through participation in the university-wide View email address on click.appcast.io Working Group. Develop and implement a comprehensive semester‑based training calendar that includes workshops, training opportunities and outreach initiatives aligned with the Office of Equal Opportunity's priorities. Design and deliver engaging workshops and educational programming for faculty, staff, and students. Maintain strong collaborative relationships with campus community partners engaged in health and wellness promotion, sexual harassment prevention education, and building inclusive and non‑discriminatory environments, including but not limited to: Campus Living and Residential Education team, Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life (CISL), the Office of Advocacy and Support (OAS), the REACH Program, the Sexual Wellbeing team, the Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC), and Disability Support Services (DSS). Develop strong relationships with off campus organizations within the Washington DC and Virginia communities that provide immigration, sexual violence, and defense services including but not limited to: VOLARE, the DC Rape Crisis Center (DCRCC), DC Forensic Nurses (DCFNE), Legal Aid, AYUDA, and Public Defender Services of DC (PDS), among others. Maintain and continuously update a library of on and off campus resources available to individuals experiencing crisis. Develop virtual training content using tools including Articulate Rise and Storyline, Vyond, Adobe Premiere Pro, Comevo, and other technology platforms. Develop content for social media, posters, and other platforms using technology such as Canva. Work closely with student organizations and leaders to design and implement innovative mechanisms to raise awareness and equip bystanders with the tools to intervene when confronted with problematic behavior. Maintain the Office of Equal Opportunity's library of prevention and education materials. Collect and analyze training participant feedback, attendance data, and exit surveys to evaluate training effectiveness and inform evidence-based enhancements to prevention programming. Supervise and mentor the Prevention Training Associate. The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but may require travel to GW's campuses in Mount Vernon, DC and Ashburn, VA and to surrounding areas. Performs other work duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks logically related to the position. Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience developing and implementing prevention programming in a higher education or similarly complex institutional environment. Experience designing, administering, and analyzing campus climate surveys or other large‑scale assessment tools. Demonstrated ability to translate assessment data into strategic, evidence‑based prevention initiatives. Experience developing engaging virtual learning modules using platforms such as Articulate Rise/Storyline, Vyond, Comevo, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar tools. Strong understanding of primary prevention theory, bystander intervention models, trauma‑informed practices, and behavior change frameworks. Experience building and sustaining collaborative partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, staff, and community‑based organizations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex or sensitive topics to varied audiences. Familiarity with social media strategy and digital communications for awareness campaigns. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving regulatory environment.
