FinOps EngineerJob#: 3057232Job Description:Senior FinOps EngineerLocation: Remote (onsite quarterly)Role OverviewThis position focuses on cloud financial management and optimization within an Amazon Web Services environment. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with FinOps Analysts to mature the engineering and automation side of the cloud operations infrastructure. The role involves solving enterprise-level optimization opportunities and implementing direct savings across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of FinOps automation initiatives and advance the engineering capabilities of the teamAutomate the cleanup of unused virtual private cloud endpoints and coordinate merge requests across application teamsDrive Kinesis on-demand optimization and enforce cloud storage lifecycle policies, utilizing automation to flag areas for efficiencyLead enterprise-level architecture migrations for cloud workloads and serverless functionsDevelop Python-based automation and integrations deployed through infrastructure templatesBuild cloud cost dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track resource usage back to consumersQuery cost and usage data tables to analyze trends and identify saving opportunitiesFormulate and implement resource tagging standards through automated solutionsRequired QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience: Practical experience in cloud cost optimization, with a proven track record of implementing direct savings rather than just monitoring and reporting.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python for writing automation and integrations, working knowledge of Amazon Web Services core services, experience with cost tools such as Cost Explorer, and familiarity with Git-based workflows.Preferred QualificationsExperience utilizing Cloudability Premium and Turbonomic for automated cloud optimizationStrong SQL skills, particularly querying cost and usage tables with AthenaFamiliarity with cloud environment deployment templates and chargeback reportingComprehensive understanding of the complete FinOps lifecycleEverforth Apex is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
