For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see Notice to Out of State Applicants. ​POSITION SPECIFICS​We are searching for a Navigation Analysis Research and Development Engineer to join our Navigation Research and Development Division (NRDD) of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State located in Warminster, PA. NRDD is a division of ARL focused on advanced navigation technologies built around a unique laboratory specially designed to test incredibly sensitive navigation sensors. We are seeking an individual for data analysis and potentially testing to support R&D, prototype development, and experimental evaluation of new navigation technologies for military platforms.ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You will:Acquire detailed knowledge in navigation sensor and systems technologyWork with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to bring new ideas to fruitionPerform data analysis on navigation sensors and systemsAnalyze laboratory and field test dataDevelop skills in analysis to plan and conduct testsAdditional responsibilities for higher level position includes:Write reports on analysis and test effortsGenerate tools and scripts to support data analysisInterpret analysis resultsAnalyze deficiencies in observed performanceWrite test documentation (plans, procedures, etc.)Development and verification of sensor and/or system models to support various Modeling & Simulation (M&S) effortsRequired skills/experience areas include:Completed Math Courses: Calculus I / II / III, Differential Equations, and Linear AlgebraBasic knowledge of MATLAB or other programming languagesExcellent communication skills, including technical writingPreferred skills/experience areas include:Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or PhysicsMATLABData AnalysisSensors and/or systems testingYour working location will be fully on-site, located at the Navigation Research & Development Center (NRDC) in Warminster, PA.
