Closing date: September 8, 2027 Title: Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs Employee Type: Faculty Department: LSUNO A/H-Administration Campus Location: ALLIED HEALTH - ADMINISTRATION Job Summary/Basic Functions The Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs provides strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of clinical education, clinical partnerships, continuing professional education, clinically based community engagement, and clinical enterprise development across the School of Allied Health Professions. The Assistant Dean works collaboratively with program directors, faculty, healthcare organizations, community partners, and university leadership to ensure high-quality clinical learning experiences, regulatory compliance, accreditation success, workforce responsiveness, and strategic growth of the School's clinical mission. The Assistant Dean serves as the School's senior administrative leader for clinical affiliations, clinical placement capacity, preceptor development, clinical quality improvement, clinical outcomes assessment, workforce development initiatives, continuing education programs, and clinical community partnerships. The position promotes innovation in clinical education, supports interprofessional practice initiatives, and advances the School's mission through strategic partnerships and community engagement. The Assistant Dean provides strategic direction, policy guidance, performance oversight, and quality monitoring for School-affiliated clinical operations. The position does not assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of clinic operations, patient scheduling, staffing, billing, patient flow, supply management, facilities management, or other routine operational functions, which remain under the direction of the Clinic Operations Manager and other designated operational personnel. The Assistant Dean will provide approximately 40-50% effort within the Dean's office and will continue as a faculty member in his/her primary academic department (50-60%) with responsibility for teaching and course instruction, as well as departmental, school, and university committee service. Minimum Qualifications Required Education: Master's Required Field of Study: Terminal degree in a health profession or related discipline. Baccalaureate degrees (Bachelor of Science) are offered in Cardiopulmonary Science and Medical Laboratory Science. The Department of Communication Disorders offers a Master of Communication Disorders degree in Speech and Language Pathology and a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) in hearing. The Department of Occupational Therapy offers the Master of Occupational Therapy Degree, the Department of Physical Therapy offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, and the Department of Counseling offers the Master of Health Sciences degree. The SoHP also includes the Human Development Center, which provides programs to increase the capacity of healthcare providers for individuals with developmental and acquired disabilities.
