General Purpose: AMaterial Handlerperforms various manual functions within a warehouse work environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Correctly picks, checks, prepares and manifests orders for shipments. Safely loads outbound freight; receives inbound loads. Safely stages material within designated areas. Properly builds displays, folding cartons and palletizingproduct;sortsdamaged product. Safely manually wraps pallets with shrink wrap. Safely operates various equipment and tools. Correctly utilizes a warehouse management system and maintains appropriate work documents. Properly inspects trailers prior to loading or unloading freight. Maintains the cleanliness and order of work areas. Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality are job requirements. The ability to get along with others and non-violence is a job requirement to consistently promote a positive team environment. Assist other employees in the performance of their assigned duties when necessary. Other Duties: Perform other tasks and/or duties as they may be assigned. Company Responsibilities: Conducts oneself and operates equipment and acts in accordance with all company policies, safety rules, regulations, laws, including wearing proper personal protective equipment. Continually maintains a high standard of ethics and personal conduct consistent with the duties and responsibilities of this position. Always conducts oneself in a positive professional manner. Takes advantage of all opportunities to attend training sessions to upgrade knowledge. Continually recommend measures to improve production and quality methods, equipment performance and use, safety and workplace environment. Make suggestions for improving the company. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year of experience in warehouse operations preferred. Required Licenses, Certification and/or Knowledge: Material handling certification may be required. Knowledge of warehouse operations. Principles and practices of effective customer service. Skills and Abilities Required to Preform Job: Cognitive: Reasoning, reading, language and communication skills, both oral and written are required on the job as well as basic mathematics. The ability to follow specific directions and perform a variety of duties in an environment which may often change is a requirement. Work within precise standards of accuracy and within time limits and rates information using standards that can be measured or checked. Ability to coordinate and perform multiple tasks at a fast pace. Ability to judge distances accurately. Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure. Evaluate information using measurable standards to make decision based on that information. Ability to acquire and maintain required certifications. Ability to read gauges properly. The ability to get along with others and non-violence is required to consistently promote a positive team environment. The ability to attend work with punctuality is required on a regular and consistent basis. The ability to work as a productive and successful member of a group or team in the work environment is required. Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work is performed in a warehouse environment. Working environments, include but are not limited to warehouse, climate-controlled office and a variety of work environments and outside travel. Work activities include normal range of motion. May be required to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 70 pounds. A full range of body motion is required on the job to include frequent sitting, bending, stooping, crouching, lifting, carrying, grasping, pinching, feeling, walking, standing, climbing, driving, pushing/pulling, handling, balancing, reaching on all planes. Fine motor coordination, fine finger dexterity, manual dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination are required. Seeing (naturally or with correction), listening, hearing, talking, communicating, spatial, form and depth perception, color discrimination, and field vision is also needed. Performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of legs, feet, arms, hands and fingers and tools and equipment. May be exposed to excessive temperatures, noise, dirt/dust, hazardous chemicals, traffic hazards, variable light, vibration and moving machinery or equipment. May be required to wear protective hard hat, reflective clothing, ear wear, eye wear, gloves, footwear or other required protective attire.
