Sr. Quality Engineer

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong focus on backend testing to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in API testing, working with Bigtable, Solr, and batch applications. The QA Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our backend systems and services.

Key Responsibilities:
• API Testing:
• Design, develop, and execute automated tests for RESTful APIs.
• Validate API functionality, performance, security, and reliability.
• Identify and report defects, and work closely with developers to resolve them.
• Bigtable:
• Test and validate data storage, retrieval, and processing in Google Bigtable.
• Ensure data integrity and performance under various scenarios.
• Collaborate with data engineers to improve data handling processes.
• Solr:
• Conduct testing for search functionalities and indexing mechanisms in Solr.
• Validate search accuracy, relevancy, and performance.
• Identify issues related to data indexing and retrieval, and suggest improvements.
• Batch Applications:
• Test batch processing jobs for data transformations and ETL workflows.
• Ensure the correctness, efficiency, and reliability of batch applications.
• Monitor and validate batch job schedules and execution outcomes.
• General QA Activities:
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Execute manual and automated tests for backend systems.
• Document and track software defects and inconsistencies.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on testability.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a QA Engineer with a focus on backend testing.
• Strong knowledge of API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
• Hands-on experience with Google Bigtable, Solr, and batch applications.
• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, SQL).
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS).
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter).
